DIY Beyonce Homecoming Outfit and Boots
Follow below for my easy DIY Beyonce Homecoming Outfit and Boots! I love making costumes! And I LOOOOOVE Beyonce.
My sister and I spent a whole weekend learning Beyonce’s choreography when Netflix released her Coachella Homecoming documentary. It’s been MONTHS since the documentary has been released and I will still watch it. She’s just brilliant. This won’t be my first Beyonce DIY costume. In college my date and I dressed up as Beyonce and JayZ for one of our sorority events.
Sorry for such an awkward pic stitch. But that was all the rage on Instagram back in the day. BUT DAMN WE LEWK GOOD.
So let’s get started! For this DIY we will be doing the ICONIC yellow sweatshirt and fringe boots! I’ve broken down each step to make your own DIY Beyonce Homecoming Outfit and Boots!

DIY Beyonce Homecoming Outfit and Boots!
What I love about this outfit is that this is super easy and comfortable. You can wear it to work or out to the bars. Or if you are more like me, lay around on the couch eating the candy for the trick-or-treaters.

Side note, I am affiliated with the Amazon associates program so I make a lil mullaaahh off my links because I am a savvy businesswoman. Ok?
Beyonce’s Yellow Sweatshirt
- Yellow Sweatshirt – For Beyonce’s iconic look I would recommend buying a yellow cropped (or pink if you are doing her weekend 2 pink look) sweatshirt.
- Bodysuit – I personally didn’t wear a because I would get too hot dancing lol.
- Pink and Gold Glitter (optional) – The graphic already has glitter on the images, but obviously it wouldn’t be as glittery if you didn’t add more on top!
- Modge Podge (optional for glitter)To be mixed with the glitter.
- Paintbrush and bowl (optional for glitter)
- Fabric Glue – To attach the graphics to the sweatshirt
- Fabric Paper – To print the logo onto
- Cuff rhinestones – I went to JoAnns and got a sheet of rose-colored but any will do.
- Logo and Arm Graphics– I made the logo and arm graphics for you already. YOU’RE WELCOME. Download that HERE. Or save the image below.
Beyonce’s Fringe Boots
- White Boots– I wanted cheap white boots and after tons and tons of research I discover that my best option would be gogo boots. And with Halloween right around the corner, there were plenty of options.
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue – Get it from your local craft store. Or Amazon, duh.
- Fringe material -I got my sequin fringe material (pic below) from JoAnns. You can find it HERE online but I went into the store because it’s a 2-yard minimum and you don’t need that. This fabric is $39/yd and I got 1/2 yard. And it was on sale so it was only $13! So get it while it’s on sale or use that coupon. According to my receipt, it’s called “Let’s Pretend Sequined Mesh Fabric-Iridescent Unicorn“.
- Rhinestone Chain – Again, I got this from JoAnn’s. Get 1 1/2 yards. The one I found was $4.99/yd (pic below). According to my receipt, it’s called “Simply 7 Row Round Rhinestone Trim“.
Beyonce’s Shorts
- High-Waisted Shorts – I just have my own jean shorts from Target that I am wearing. Check out your local Target, Forever 21, or wherever you find shorts that fit!
How to Make Your Beyonce Homecoming Outfit and Boots:
Step 1:
First, get all yo supplies.
Step 2:
Next, we shall start with the sweatshirt. Print out the logo and arm graphics onto your printable fabric paper. Read the directions on your fabric paper to make sure you print it correctly. Cut out the logo and the arm Vs.
Step 3:
The next step is optional. This is where the glitter comes in. Skip if you don’t want extra glitter. Mix a spoonful of modge podge and pink glitter (I use a paper bowl) with a paintbrush and paint the glitter to its designated areas. Rinse your paintbrush and repeat with the gold. Let dry.
Step 4:
Next, glue on the logo to the center of the sweatshirt with your fabric glue. Do the same with the Coachella arm V’s to the right sleeve. Let dry.
Step 5:
Next, stick the rhinestones onto the cuffs of the sleeves. I didn’t even bother gluing them on since it was so sticky. I measured the length of the cuff and cut the rhinestones into strips and placed them around each cuff.
Step 6:
Let’s move on to the boots! Start by cutting up your fringe into strips. I found turning the fabric over and cutting it upside down easier. Make sure to leave enough of the extra mesh part at the top of each fringe strip because you need that part to attach it to the boots.
Step 7:
Starting from the bottom of the boot, around the ankle part, apply the hot glue next to the zipper of your boot, just a lil line. Place the start of your fringe on the glue. Move to the other side of the boot, place the glue, and place the fringe. And then move back around to the zipper side, place a line of glue, and place the fringe. Don’t glue over the zipper, duh! Trim the excess. Keep gluing and layering your fringe all the way up to the top. Follow my pictures below.
Step 8:
Lastly, measure and cut the rhinestone trim around the tippy top of the boot and glue it into place. Iffffff the glue isn’t strong enough, you might need to sew it into place with a needle and thread.
Repeat the whole thing over on the second boot!!
Step 9:
Alright, you have finished!! Now all you have to do is put it all on, curl and tease your hair. AND GET READY TO DANCE.
YOU CAN’T PUT ON THIS COSTUME AND NOT DANCE. Watch below how it’s done.
