DIY Meg from Hercules Halloween Costume
I love Halloween! And I LOOOOOVE making costumes. For years, I’ve tried to use my red hair as inspiration for costumes. Disney Princesses are always my go-to. It’s so easy as Disney respects the hell out of redheads. This Meg costume was super easy to make and inexpensive. I’ve broken down each step to make your own DIY Meg from Hercules Halloween Costume! If you want to see my other DIY costumes, check out my DIY Beyonce Coachella Homecoming Costume, or my DIY Miss Frizzle And for more inspo, I have a whole post dedicated to Redhead Halloween Costumes. Yeeerrrr welcome.
Meg from Hercules Costume
It’s super cute to wear to work, out to bars, or to take kids trick or treating.
Or if you are more like me, lay around on the couch eating the candy for the trick-or-treaters.
This tutorial is pretty easy and cheap. Feel free to skip steps or add your own! Let’s get started on your own Megra Halloween Costume! Make sure you perfect the attitude ahead of time.

Side note, I am affiliated with Amazon associates program so I make a lil mullaaahh off my links, because I am a savvy businesswoman. Ok?
Meg’s Outfit
- Purple dress – For Meg’s iconic look I would recommend a maxi or a high-low dress option. Look for a dress in a lavender/ pale purple. (I got mine many, many moons ago)
- Sandals – Any cute, greek summer sandals will do! You probably have some already in your closet.
- Dress Details– This is easy! And cheap!s
- Purple Fabric – Head to JoAnn’s with a coupon and get 1/2 yard of purple fabric.
- Yellow/ gold paper – Just one piece of paper to make the circle embellishments on the shoulders.
- safety pins
- fabric glue or glue dots
How to Make the Meg Costume:
Step 1:
First, buy your purple dress!
Step 2:
Next, shoes! Secure some shoes.
Step 3:
Wow this is so easy so far, right? Ok so, next, take the piece of purple fabric and cut it so it fits around your waist. you can do this two ways, leave a little extra so it overlaps when it hangs or how I did it, I just pinned it to my hip (with the safety pins) and let the fabric fall loosely on the other hip. See below.
Step 4:
Next, cut out 2 circles from your yellow/ gold paper. I used the bottom of my water bottle to trace two circles. Attach the circles to the shoulders of the dress. See below.
Step 5:
Last step! Hair! High ponytail. If you have leftover fabric, which you should, cut some off and tie it around your ponytail. I don’t have bangs like Meg so I kinda had to fake it.
ALL DONE!
