DIY Friends Themed Party
I recently threw the most legit DIY Friends themed party. The theme was Friends and 90’s because I wanted people to dress up. You know I love a good a dress up theme. Friends is my sister’s and my favorite show, and I truly believe we have watched every episode 65 times. Obviously, for her going away party, I had to throw a Friends themed party! Since I spent months planning it, I decided to write a post on how you can plan one too! I’ve included everything I did, all my Friends TV show themed decor, Friends themed food ideas, friends photobooth printables and all the supplies, with links are listed at the end of this blog.
Although I made this a going away party, all of my recommendations would still work great for a Friends Themed Baby Shower, Friends Themed Bridal Shower, Friends Themed Birthday Party, Friends Themed Party etc.
Since you are here cause you looooove Friends. Check out my Free Friends iPhone Wallpapers!
Without further delay, Let’s get to party planning!
Side note, I am affiliated with Amazon associates program so I make a lil mullaaahh off my links, because I am a savvy business woman. Ok?
Friends Themed Food Table
First, I created a “Joey Doesn’t Share Food” table filled with Friends themed appetizers and snacks.
- “Joey’s Meatball Subs” – Crockpot meatballs and Hawaiian rolls.
- “Monica’s Candy” – I bought 4 different bags of candy and filled little bowls.
- “Gum Would be Perfection” – I put out a few different flavors of gum because I love this quote and I thought it would be funny.
- “Nestle Toulouse”- Chocolate chip cookies.
- “Holiday Armajello” – I made finger jello, which is a must at our family parties.
- “I’m making fajitas!” – I hired a taco man and put out this sign.
- “The One with the Cheesecake” – Cheesecake DUH.
- “I was in charge of cups and ice” – I put this sign on the drink table.
- I also put out a veggie tray, fruit bowl, chips and pretzels.
- Other foods I considered doing: “Monica’s sexy salad”, ” Mocklate”, “Spudnik Salad” (potato salad), “Ross’s Moist Maker”, “Joey’s Special” (2 pizzas), “The one with all the lasagna”, “Rachel’s Trifle”, “Margaritas”.
Next, I bought mugs from the dollar tree and filled them with coffee beans. The trick to not wasting too many beans, since they aren’t that cheap, stuff the mugs with tissue paper and cover the top with beans. You use 1/4 of a cup of beans rather than 1-1 1/2 cups. I sprinkled some friends stickers on all the tables as well.
For the food cards, I made them on illustrator, printed them out at FedEx, on cardstock that I brought. I bought cardstock to save money. Unfortunately, they charge like $2 per print and I was like errrr I can get a pack of paper WAY cheaper. I needed it for the Photo Booth prints too! It was like 35 prints. I also got the wooden dowel sticks from Amazon and just used scotch tape to tape the stick to the paper. Easy peasy. All the supplies, with links are listed at the end of this blog.
Friends Party Themed Photo Booth
I created a “Central Perk” themed Photo Booth. I stole the couch and coffee table from my living room and dragged them outside. The orange couch cover I got from Amazon. The purple fabric is from JoAnn’s. Originally, I had the Photo Booth somewhere else in my back yard, which is why the purple fabric doesn’t reach the bottom. Next time, I would have doubled the fabric and sewed it so it was a full complete backdrop. The sign, I used my cricut cutter but I did see custom signs can be ordered on Etsy. The balloon arch we made! All you need are purple, white and orange balloons, balloon pump and balloon arch tape. Give yourself about 1-1.5 hours to make the arch if you do it yourself. It was surprisingly very easy.
The Photo Booth props, I made on illustrator. Again, I have linked the file below, if you want to print them out. Just like for the food cards, I suggest buying cardstock and taking them to a printer and then cutting them out yourself.
Karaoke
I wish I had a better picture but it was windy and I couldn’t snap a good pic. The purple fringe backdrop I hung and attached little frames, like the food cards, with Phoebe’s lyrics. For karaoke, I borrowed a mic and speaker and plugged in my iPad. I had people just youtube songs to sing along with. Renting a karaoke machine ended up being a hassle so this was my poor man’s version.
Friends Party Themed Invitation
I made this invite in illustrator as well. It’s in my downloadable printable file as well. If you have illustrator, you can edit it to your hearts desire.
Other Friends Party Themed Decor
Like I said above, I mixed the friends theme party with 90’s.
For the backyard, I rented chairs and umbrellas. I also set up the drink table over here and not near the food so my guests could walk a shorter distance to get drunk. HA. I also threw a bunch of otter pops into the ice buckets for the kids #90’s.
For the backyard entertainment (besides me on karaoke), I set laid out corn hole and twister. On each of the tables I put out 90’s games like connect four, uno, catchphrase and play doh and bubbles for the kids. I wanted to rent a giant connect four and other big backyard games, butttt my budget said no.
I am fully aware that this is a terrible photo but for some reason I have ZEROOOOO photos of my accessory table! It was so cute too. So use your imagination. I bought this cheetah fabric at Joanns and laid out all my 90’s accessories for my guests to put on. It included, small sunglasses, butterfly clips, slap bracelets, black chokers, stick on earrings and blue eyeshadow. I have linked everything I bought below, minus the glasses because I found them on the clearance rack at H&M.
Lastly, this frame I found at the thrift store and spray painted it back. I glued string onto the back and bought mini clothes pins to hang up pictures of everyone who came to the party. I cricut cut the letters at the top.
