What to Eat in Vienna:
While you visit Vienna, make sure to try the bread, it’s different from the rest of Europe. Krustenbrot is an Austrian rye bread also known as Vollkornbrot. Schnitzel is the most famous Austrian dish (cue Sound of Music). Also try the wine and beer (obviously). What’s traveling without wine and beer??? Try the Viennese beers, Ottakringer and Gösser Naturradler Lemon. If you happen to be there during the Christmas markets try the Punsch, their typical winter drink. Wiener melange is another Austrian drink similar to a cappuccino. Another famous Austrian dish is the Sacher-Torte, a chocolate cake, coated with apricot jam and topped with chocolate icing. Don’t leave Vienna without trying it all!
- Waldviertlerhof– Austrian dining.
- Wiener Waiz Haus– One of our favorite places! Long wait, Cash only but 100% worth it.
- Bohème– German and Austrian food.
- Figlmuller– Best Schnitzel! Make a reservation because the line can be very long.
- Skopik & Lohn– Traditional Austrian dining with cool interior.
- Silberwirt– Austrian food with cute outdoor garden area.
- Amerling Beisl– Traditional food and outdoor garden area.
- Zum Schwarzen Adler– Traditional food and they brew their own beer!
- Cafe Ansari– If you want a break from Austrian food and want to try Georgian.
- ShanghaiTan– Still tired of Austrian food? Try this Asian cuisine. Go in for the interior design alone.
- Die Burgermacher– Unique, great burgers.
- Schachtelwirt– DELISH, quick lunch or small bites.
- Vienna sausage– When you literally just want a damn Vienna weiner.
- Cafe Central – Gorgeous interior. Usually has a wait but worth it.
- Palm House– Wow, just WOW.
- Vollpension – Just the cutest lil cafe with comfy chairs.
- Cafe Hawelka– Perfect for if you need a mid-day coffee!
- Cafe Mozart– Another great place for coffee and a treat.
- Joseph Brot– Bakery, known for their breads.
- Café Sacher – The Original Sacher-Torte, one of the most famous cakes in the world. Personally, I didn’t care for it but it’s something you have to try!
