This One Time at Camp Toast…
Jambo Toasters,
WE WENT TO CAMP TOAST!!!!! The first ever camp toast! After a lovely couple of days in New York, (read about it HERE) Amanda and I took off to the Poconos Mountains for Camp!
Camp Toast is a group of individuals who love toast and gathered for a weekend to discuss different verities of toast. We are toast connoisseurs and we are very passionate about the art of toasting bread.
Say toast one more time.
I lie, I lie. It has nothing to do with toast.
Amanda and I watch a prestigious morning show for millennials called, “The Morning Toast”. Two sisters, Claudia (@girlwithnojob) and Jackie (@jackieoproblems), host a morning show everyday live on Youtube and the podcast app. We have been fans of this show for many moons now and watch erryday. One episode, the girls were shooting the shit, talking about growing up and going to camp, and wishing they could go back but this time with alcohol. And boom.
Camp Toast was born!
AND WE JUST HAD TO GO.
We had absolutely no idea what this camp would entail but we thought a group of like-minded, podcast listeners who would want to spend the weekend at a summer camp doing activities while drinking wine were our kind of people.
So off we went.
Camp Toast Day 1:
We ARRIVE. I felt like I was back at the summer camp I went to in middle school. Except, there was wine and beer.
You can see the lake on the other side of the pool. SUH CUTE. After settling into our cabins we hopped on down to the pool cause it was fricken hot out.
And then boom. It started raining and they kicked us out. We were told to change and come into the rec hall for happy hour and ice cream. Oh hellz ya.
Amanda and I ate our ice-cream and mingled with all my new FRANS.
And then, to really get the party started… a flip cup competition… Jackie vs. Claudia. I was team Claudia, which you will see later in my camp adventures: being a loyal Claudette, Claudashian, real housewives of Claudia… will pay off.
Things escalated quickly. I’ve never seen such premium social media stars become so competitive in my life. But when you pit sister against sister…
Luckily, my 4 years being in a sorority paid off.
After team Claudia DOMINATED, it was dinner time. Because after ice cream and beer, a carving station is all a drunk girl wants. (no pics cause I was hungry).
Dance Party
The evening ended with a nice relaxing bonfire and a guitar player serenading us….
…until Claudia took the mic.
and it turned into one big bonfire, karaoke, dance party.
Camp Toast Day 2:
Breakfast!
Goooooood morning millennials. Camp Toast has OFFICIALLY begun. Breakfast was what I would describe as a Holiday Inn Express continental breakfast on crack. We even had an omelette man! And don’t get me started on the coffee cart guy. He was out here making macchiato frappe cappuccino lattes with soy milk for everyone. After breakfast, we all shuffled into the theater for THE MORNING TOAST LIVE.
This is where our premium morning show hosts hit us with the fast five stories we needed to know before we take a bite out of our morning toast… Even though we had already had our morning toast at breakfast. This was post toast toast. Ya feel?
Activities!
You can catch the episode on the Morning Toast Patreon account.
Outside of the theater they had a FRICKEN corn guy!!! He slathered the corn in butter and had a variety of toppings. It was fantastic.
You can see me in the background with me kern on the kerb. Tasted just like the corn at the fair.
After our bellies were full of lunch and laughs, we broke into groups to start doing various camp activities.
Amanda and I started with kayaking on the lake. And then it started POURING RAIN. I don’t have any pics cause we looked like this…
They had a jet ski pulling an raft around the lake and we were like, YOLO, we were already soaking wet, might as well continue with the lake activities. I don’t have a picture but here is one of the Steens. T’was grand.
Up next was Zip-lining!
It was raining too hard for the ropes course, so we could only do the swing.
After all these activities it was time for dinner… and a show. A TALENT SHOW THAT IS.
Talent Show
Amanda and I went back and forth for awhile about if we should do something or not and what would we do anyways?!?!?!
But we finally came up with something with our friend Tim…
Not bad right? Not bad indeed. WE WON! I would like to thank High School Musical, Kenny Ortega, and Zac Efron for making this win possible. Who knew memorizing the dances in 8th grade would pay off ten years later. What team? WILDCATS.
Everyone was so PUMPED from the talent show, the evening just turned into one big dance party again. Everything we did at camp pretty much just turned into one big dance party. We all went to bed broken. And woke up… broken.
Camp Toast Day 3:
The morning started just like the previous day with breakfast and a live recording of The Morning Toast except the mood was different. Competition was in the air. Color War was around the corner. Everyone was antsy. Would I be Team Jackie or Team Claudia? PINK OR GREEN?????
Would sister be pitted against sister??? Will we come VICTORIOUS?
Weirdly, my entire bunk was Team Green aka Claudia’s team.
My bunk with the opposing team captain.
Oh captain, my captain!
TEAM GREEN TEAM GREEN TEAM GREEN.
The first color war game of the day was capture the flag.
And things got serious fast.
Idk what hairstyle I was doing but this was about WINNING not FASHUN.
It also starting raining again so everyone was slipping in the mud, running around, crashing into each other. It was NUTS. There is one image that I think sums up the vibe of capture the flag…
Yup.
After Green Team WON. We met up in the barn for some dodge ball. We had a different activity planned but it was raining pretty good.
Again I have one pic that sums up the dodgeball event.
BUT TEAM GREEN DOMINATED
AND WE WON COLOR WAR! I wish I had the video of us hoisting Claudia up into the air but idk where that is.
T’was a marvelous color war.
Celebratory Dinner
But now all of us athletes were hungry for some dinner.
Now did the evening turn into one big karaoke dance party again?
Yes, yes it did.
I had the most glorious, fantastic, premium Camp Toast experience!
Thank you so much Claudia and Jackie and all the Steeny Sisters for throwing the best first annual Camp Toast!
I made so many new toasty friends and I couldn’t have asked for a better time with better people.
Till next year!
You can watch The Morning Toast M-F at 10am Eastern Time on Youtube! Or in the podcast app. I feel like a walking billboard.
