Visit Madrid, Spain

May 1, 2017June 16, 2025, By: Marissa

Planning to visit Madrid, Spain? What a WONDERFUL city you are. Sangria, paella, mojitos, Spanish boyzzzzzz. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Madrid. One of my best friends studied abroad here and my other friend lives there! So, I have plenty of recommendations for you!

Currency: Euros
Language: Spanish, many speak english

Where to Eat in Madrid

  • TriCiclo: This place was DIVVVINEEEEEEE. And the waiter was hot.
  • Matilda: Breakfast place. Homemade everything.
  • El Tigre: If you buy a drink, the tapas are free. The mojitos were amazing.
  • La Rollerie: Breakfast food. All over Madrid. Super hipster but cutal.
  • Oreja de Oro: Traditional Spanish food. Home of the famous pig ears.
  • Mercado de San Miguel: Coolest indoor market where you can try so many types of foods and drinks. Great spot for lunch. Just watch your bags or purse.
  • MaestroChurrero: Yummy churros dipped in chocolate.
  • Lateral Restaurant: Affordable fancy tapas.
  • El chapandaz: Random bar with drinks that come out of a cave.
  • Azotea Del Circulo de Bella: Great rooftop bar.

Where to Stay in Madrid

Tons of great options in Madrid. We picked a place in the city center.
We stayed here: Airbnb.

What to Do in Madrid

  • Buen Retiro Park: Probably one of the most goooorrggg parks I’ve ever seen.
  • CaixaForum: A huge plant wall. Very cool. Right near the park
  • Plaza Santa Ana: Nice area, good restaurants
  • Catedral de la Almudena: Pretty cathedral
  • The Royal Palace of Madrid: Pretty cool. Very long lines in peak tourist months, so get your tickets online.
  • Mercado de San Miguel: I would live here if I could. Right in this market. Great for lunch or little snacks. We went here more than once.
  • Temple of Debod: Great place to view the sunset.

Tips for Madrid, Spain

  • Take the metro if you are tired of walking.
  • Watch your belongings.
  • Don’t be stupid lol.
  • Switch off between ordering mojitos and sangria. It’s a super hard decision to make but switching off between two fabulous drink choices saves time for eating more paella. Or tapas. Or paella… Shit idk this is another tough decision.
  • Try new things.
  • Live, laugh, love

That concludes my Visit Madrid, Spain list!! The city is huge and there is plenty to eat, see and do! If you are visiting Barcelona as well, check out my Barcelona Destination Blog as well. Make sure to check out my Travel Diary about my time in Spain, HERE! I have tons more blogs on other destinations around Europe as well! Enjoy your visit to Madrid!
